Starting on Friday, October 29th, the critically-acclaimed soccer documentary Pelada will be having a one-week run at Charlotte's Crownpoint Stadium 12 Theatre. The documentary is about a trip around the world to 25 countries by American soccer players Gwendolyn Oxenham (Duke) and Luke Boughen (Notre Dame) - it's very family-friendly and guaranteed to inspire young and adult players alike. The film has been selling out screenings nationwide, and we need the Charlotte soccer community's help in spreading the word. All around the country, coaches and soccer organizations have been organizing group outings to go see the film - so we hope you will do the same! You can call the theater for group rates. The film has been lauded in the NY Times and Sports Illustrated, and it continues to win awards on the film festival circuit.

The Carolina Panthers have a bye that weekend so there is no conflict for local NFL fans.

Our volunteers are reaching out to coaches to notify them which players are on their team.  We did our best to honor requests for coaches and friends to play with.  We formed teams based on practice locations (Pleasant Grove, Mountain Island Harbor, and Overlook).  Please understand that we have over 200 children playing recreation soccer this fall and that we did our best to make everything work out.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Please plan on attending Opening Ceremonies on August 28th from 10a - 1:30 for uniform distribution, clowns, face painting, bounce houses, and soccer fun!  Your attendance at this event is a very important way to support our soccer club.

We're looking forward to a great Fall 2010 season!
